Dr. Alan Brookstone
Chairman & CEO
Cientis Technologies was established in 2004 by Chairman and CEO Dr. Alan Brookstone, an internationally recognized expert on Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) and Electronic Health Records (EHRs).
Dr. Brookstone is a family physician with 25 years of medical practice experience in rural and urban practice settings and a senior consultant with extensive international, provincial and regional experience in primary care electronic medical records, acute care clinical systems, privacy, data stewardship and clinician engagement at both the operational and strategic planning levels. He has served on a number of national and provincial advisory groups. From 2005 to 2008 he was a member of the Canada Health Infoway national physician advisory committee and from 2008 to 2009 he co-chaired the Canada Health Infoway clinical subcommittee on standards. From 2009 to the present he has worked with the Singapore Ministry of Health to develop an electronic medical records and physician engagement strategy for Singapore’s 2,000 general practitioners. He has a broad-based understanding of the US and Canadian healthcare systems and challenges facing physicians, health regions and governments in the implementation and use of Information Technology and Electronic Medical Records in medical practice settings. Dr. Brookstone maintains a small medical practice in a multi-physician electronic medical records based clinic.
Thomas Stringham
President
Thomas Stringham has led the design and development of Cientis Technologies’ proprietary technology platform since its inception in 2007. Under his guidance, Cientis’ first online community, www.CanadianEMR.ca, has become the recognized market leader in EMR related information and resources. Thomas is currently leading the development and branding of Cientis’ second online community, www.AmericanEHR.com, which is being managed in partnership with the American College of Physicians (ACP).
Thomas is also the President and Creative Director of Hot Tomali Communications, a company he founded in 1998. Hot Tomali is an award-winning integrated marketing agency that has provided interactive, design and branding solutions for notable companies such as Electronic Arts, 7-Eleven, Purdy’s Chocolates, Tiger Woods Foundation, and Big White Ski Resort. Over the years Thomas has led several interactive healthcare projects for organizations such as BC Cancer Agency, Vancouver Coastal Health, Providence Healthcare, the BC Lung Association, Provincial Infection Control Network, and the Ontario Medical Association.

A graduate of Princeton and McGill, Scott Dunlop is a business lawyer at Davis LLP with extensive experience in structuring enterprises for success and advising founders, directors, executives, shareholders, and partners in business and social enterprises. Scott’s legal and business skills are combined with Harvard negotiation and mediation training. He provides expert counsel and advice to growing enterprises and their decision makers.
Scott’s areas of specialty include shareholder rights, remedies and agreements, director issues and compensation, executive contracts and remuneration, employment, intellectual capital protection and enhancement, and structuring enterprises for capital requirements and financing.
Alan Albert
Strategic Advisor
A seasoned entrepreneur with over 20 years of managerial, advisory, and hands-on success in bringing innovative products to market, Alan has conceived and led the design and development of multiple top-selling and award-winning products, generating over $1 billion (USD) in cumulative revenue. One of these products, FileMaker, has sold over 10 million copies based on Alan’s original concepts and designs.
Bryan Mavrow
Marketing & Internet Architecture
Bryan’s work record spans 20 years of integrated marketing experience in agencies and high-growth businesses. Bryan is currently senior vice president of marketing for First West Credit Union. First West is British Columbia’s third-largest credit union with $5.6 billion in assets under administration, 167,000 members and 1,150 employees. It was formed through the merger of Envision Financial and Valley First Credit Union in 2010.
Prior to First West, Bryan held senior marketing roles with Hot Tomali Communications, Intrawest, and 1-800-GOT-JUNK?, as well as five dot.com years with the pioneering web agency Columbus Group where he built online business for global organizations like Kraft, Colliers International, and SC Johnson. Bryan is well known in West Coast marketing circles: he's served as president of the BC Association of Integrated Marketers, and is past-president of the International Internet Marketing Association. He is also the Vancouver instructor for the Canadian Marketing Association‚ eMarketing certificate program.
